Freenet Health is hiring a Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to own and scale our cloud infrastructure, deployment pipelines, and environment architecture.
This role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining a secure, scalable Azure environment that supports backend services, data systems, and internal applications used across the organization.
This role operates in a HIPAA-regulated environment and requires building and maintaining infrastructure that meets strict security and data protection standards.
You will work closely with the Engineering Manager and backend engineering team to ensure infrastructure is reliable, secure, and aligned with application needs.
This is a hands-on role focused on execution. You will be expected to build, troubleshoot, and operate production systems.
What You Will Own- The reliability, security, and scalability of our Azure environment across all stages
- End-to-end deployment systems, from CI/CD pipelines to production releases
- Identity, access, and secrets management across services and environments
- Infrastructure as Code and the standards for provisioning and operating environments
- Design, deploy, and manage Azure resources (App Services, Functions, VMs, SQL, Storage)
- Configure networking, DNS, and secure service-to-service connectivity
- Maintain environment isolation (dev, staging, regression, production)
- Implement secure identity and access (Entra , managed identities, app registrations)
- Manage secrets and enforce security best practices (encryption, access control, audit logging, HIPAA)
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines (Git Hub Actions/Azure Dev Ops) with safe, repeatable releases
- Implement and manage infrastructure using Terraform or Bicep
- Set up monitoring, alerting, and observability (Azure Monitor, Application Insights)
- Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability
- Collaborate with engineers and leadership on deployments and architecture
- Has built and operated production cloud infrastructure end-to-end
- Comfortable owning systems independently and takes initiative
- Strong security mindset, especially in regulated or sensitive data environments
- Able to debug complex issues across cloud, networking, and identity layers
- Thrives in a hands-on role with high ownership and accountability
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or Dev Ops
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in production environments
- Deep understanding of Azure networking, resource architecture, and IAM (Entra , managed identities, app registrations)
- Experience building CI/CD pipelines and automating deployments across multiple environments
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep)
- Experience configuring secure service-to-service communication
- Experience with monitoring, logging, and incident response
- Strong troubleshooting skills in distributed systems
- Experience implementing secure cloud architectures, including encryption and access control
- Experience in HIPAA-compliant or regulated environments (preferred)
- Own and shape cloud infrastructure from the ground up
- Work on systems that directly support healthcare operations

This is an on-site role located in the Boerne / Austin Texas area

Administrative office environment
Monday – Friday schedule
Minimum 40 hours per week
Occasional weekend work may be required
CompensationEstimated salary range (Texas market):
$120,000 – $180,000 annually
Compensation varies based on experience and qualifications.
