Position:
Auto Body Technician – Gerber Collision & Glass
- Ensure consistent execution of WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan the repair work that is necessary and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use various tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair sections of a vehicle.
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and other minor body damage, and mix and apply filler resins for repairs when other methods are not feasible.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged sections of vehicles and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
- Replace or repair glass and windshields as needed.
- Replace or repair interior parts as needed.
- Weld and otherwise attach or fit parts into place.
- Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory‑specified paint or agreed‑upon equivalent.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines.
- Ensure all work has been executed correctly by inspecting vehicles after repair.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Successful completion of a technical school program OR a 3‑year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer.
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
- Can work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Can lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Can visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
- Can bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
- Pay ranges $80,000 to $120,000 + flat rate hourly pay, commensurate with location, skill, education, and experience.
- Work hours subject to local or state minimum wage.
- Potential bonus opportunities tied to individual or business initiatives.
