Salary is determined on directly related experience supported by a service record or experience affidavit. Annualized pay may be pro-rated based on actual start date. This position is non-stipend eligible.

Position Summary

The Trip Request Specialist is responsible for coordinating and managing school bus field trips and other transportation requests, including creating, scheduling, assigning, maintaining, and modifying trips. Reviews and approves transportation requests; processes and assigns extra- and co-curricular field trips; collaborates with the Fleet Manager to ensure the appropriate vehicle is assigned; communicates with requesters and provides follow-up throughout the transportation process;

and closes out transportation support requests, including processing related billing. Maintains a shared online trip log and provides backup support for dispatch operations, including routing and the use of Transfinder Route finder and Skyward Student. The position also answers incoming calls, provides general transportation support, and drives a school bus as needed.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent recognized by the Texas Education Agency or a regional accrediting agency.
• Two (2) years of School bus driving or relevant experience.
• Obtain the class "B" CDL license with all required endorsements within 180 calendar days of employment (Paid Training Provided).
• Safe driving record verified by Texas Department of Public Safety and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Clearinghouse (meets and maintains liability coverage eligibility).
• Ability to pass U.S. Department of Transportation alcohol and drug tests and annual physical exam.
• Obtain and maintain School Bus Driver Certification (Texas Department of Public Safety).
• Satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Transfinder school bus routing software.
• Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish.

Essential Functions/Key Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and approve trip requests in accordance with established procedures.
• Monitor trip requests to ensure they are submitted at least ten (10) days prior to the scheduled trip and have received approval from the campus principal.
• Ensure trip departure and return times do not conflict with regularly scheduled bus routes, with established bus routes taking priority.
