Position Overview

PT. Hatfield Indonesia is seeking to hire a national expert for the position of Marine Biodiversity Specialist based out of our Bogor office. The role involves building a sustainable future for our company and country. Responsibilities include supporting proposal development, project implementation, and may include coordination and supervision of other staff and/or sub‑consultants. You will also support marketing and business development activities to create new opportunities for the company.

The employment term is 12 months with a possibility of extension.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct marine biodiversity and ecological assessments, including marine and coastal baseline surveys, habitat and species assessments, and ecosystem services studies, serving as a field team member or field coordinator as assigned by the project manager and/or project director.
  • Implement field surveys in marine habitats and contribute to design of sampling programs and sampling methods, including determining sampling locations, survey methods, field documentation development, data analysis, equipment installation, and field logistics arrangements.
  • Responsible for data management during field work, including compiling survey results, checking data for completeness and consistency, organizing hard copies and uploading soft copies to appropriate data storage areas, and proceeding with analysis of preserved samples.
  • Conduct data analysis on biological field data, including species identification, species screening based on conservation status, habitat type and threat identification, research on species or habitats of concern, and calculating relevant biodiversity indices and statistics.
  • Manage project team activities including preparation of project work plans, schedules, budgets, technical activities, and coordination of technical staff and sub‑consultants to ensure efficient use of corporate and client resources, and preparation and editing of documents such as proposals and reports.
  • Implement a robust QA/QC process in every project step—data quality, workplan preparation, data compilation, literature review—to meet project scope of work and PTHI standards.
  • Carry out every task given while prioritizing occupational safety & health, security, confidentiality, and environmental friendliness.
  • Apply the Hatfield style or other style guide required for each writing contribution.
  • Collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary and multicultural teams to deliver project activities, technical outputs, and objectives.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental management, marine, fishery, biology, or a relevant field. A Master’s degree from a reputable university is an advantage.
  • Minimum five years of professional experience undertaking marine biodiversity‑related assessments and studies as part of environmental and social assessment processes, including AMDAL, UKL‑UPL, ESIA, ESMP, and ESDD.
  • Experience in planning and conducting marine biodiversity baseline surveys, data collection and management, habitat and species assessments, species identification, and statistical analysis and interpretation of marine and related ecological datasets.
  • Experience with biodiversity safeguard documents relevant to marine and coastal environments as part of biodiversity impact assessments, critical habitat assessment (CHA), ecosystem services assessment (ESA), biodiversity management plan (BMP), and biodiversity action plan (BAP) would be an advantage.
  • Experience in delivering marine biodiversity projects in accordance with international environmental and social standards and safeguards, including IFC PS6 and WB ESS6, and their associated guidance documents would be an advantage.
