SummaryPWGC is seeking a highly motivated CAD Manager to serve in a dual capacity role that is central to both firm‑wide CAD standards and active project production. This hybrid position — approximately 50% standards/management and 50% billable design/drafting — is ideal for a self‑directed professional who thrives on both the organizational and technical sides of civil and environmental engineering.
The successful candidate will join our team of environmental and civil engineers, scientists, and geologists to provide support on site planning, mining, material recycling, and environmental remediation projects. The ideal candidate brings advanced proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and a demonstrated ability to create, maintain, and enforce CAD standards across a multi-disciplinary firm.
Key ResponsibilitiesCAD Standards Development & Management (~50%)
- Develop, document, and enforce firm‑wide CAD standards, templates, and workflows across all departments
- Expand and refine PWGC's existing CAD standards library including sheet templates, title blocks, layer conventions, and drawing formats
- Establish and maintain standard project folder structures and file naming conventions
- Conduct QA/QC reviews of deliverable drawing sets to ensure compliance with PWGC standards and regulatory submission requirements
- Evaluate and implement CAD software updates, add‑ons, and process improvements
- Coordinate with Project Managers to integrate CAD workflows into project delivery processes
- Develop and deliver internal training on Civil 3D tools, workflows, and firm standards
Billable Design & Drafting Production (~50%)
- Prepare and modify detailed technical drawings for site development, grading, drainage, and utility projects
- Perform site design including grading for balanced cut/fill calculations and volume take‑offs
- Design stormwater management and drainage conveyance systems
- Design sanitary systems and underground utility layouts
- Produce permit‑ready drawing sets for SCDHS, NYSDEC, ACOE, and municipal submissions
- Assist engineers with waterfront, environmental, and regulatory projects
- Support Project Managers with project coordination including client communication, outside professionals, and governmental agencies
- Prepare documentation for regulatory submissions and construction document packages
- Site development grading and stormwater drainage conveyance design
- Grading design for balanced cut/fill calculations and take‑offs
- Quantity take‑offs for cost estimates
- Area calculations and take‑offs
- ADA grading and compliance guidelines
- Template and title block setup and management
- Civil 3D corridor, surface, and pipe network tools
- Site layout, grading, drainage, and utility design principles
- Working proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Knowledge of ADA grading and compliance guidelines
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology, Civil Engineering, Drafting & Design Technology, or a related field
- Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
- Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in civil or environmental engineering drafting and design
- Demonstrated experience developing or managing CAD standards in a professional engineering environment
- Experience with land development, site planning, or environmental project types preferred
- Experience with site work, grading, drainage, or underground utility design
- Familiarity with waterfront or environmental permitting projects (ACOE, NYSDEC)
- Familiarity with SCDHS, NYSDEC, and local municipal drawing and submission standards
$85,000 - $115,000 depending on experience — Exempt
