Job DescriptionA growing, medium-sized environmental firm in Bohemia seeks an Environmental Field Scientist to support a variety of field-based environmental projects. You will focus on field sampling, air monitoring, and construction oversight while collaborating closely with contractors and project teams. This role offers broad exposure to different project types and responsibilities, helping you develop into a well‑rounded environmental professional.
Responsibilities- Conduct soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field sampling activities in accordance with project plans and regulatory standards.
- Perform air monitoring on active sites to ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
- Provide construction oversight on environmental projects, observing site activities and documenting compliance with environmental specifications.
- Visit project sites across the boroughs and New Jersey to carry out field investigations and sampling programs.
- Interact and coordinate with contractors on construction sites, communicating clearly and professionally to support project goals.
- Prepare accurate field notes, logs, and sampling documentation to support project reporting and regulatory submissions.
- Follow OSHA safety protocols and firm‑specific health and safety procedures while working on active construction and field sites.
- Collaborate with project teams to plan fieldwork, discuss findings, and support the development of project deliverables.
- At least 2 years of experience in field sampling, including soil and groundwater sampling.
- At least 2 years of experience in air monitoring and construction oversight in an environmental context.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with contractors, project teams, and other stakeholders on site.
- Comfort working on active construction sites and in a construction environment.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Ability to travel to and perform site visits throughout the boroughs and New Jersey.
Skills & Qualifications
- OSHA 40 certification.
- Experience working on a variety of environmental projects and willingness to take on diverse responsibilities.
- Interest in developing into a well‑rounded environmental professional through exposure to multiple project types.
This role is primarily field‑based, with the majority of time spent on active project and construction sites. You will regularly work outdoors and on construction sites, performing sampling and monitoring activities while adhering to strict safety protocols. When office work is required, you may choose to work from either a Long Island office or a Lyndhurst, New Jersey office. The firm’s medium size fosters a collaborative environment where team members are exposed to a wide range of responsibilities rather than being limited to a narrow role, creating strong opportunities for professional growth and varied project experience.
JobType & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bohemia, NY.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $33.65 - $39.06/hr.
