Position Summary
As the Site Safety Health & Environmental Specialist, you coordinate and execute safety, health and environmental programs. You interact with employees to foster a culture of care and accountability, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies while performing daily audits and inspections.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement systems, procedures, and work practices to maintain an "audit ready" state of compliance.
- Prepare and maintain SOPs to ensure site compliance with company and regulatory agency policies, including federal, state and local legislation and environmental regulations.
- Lead the Facility SH&E Team and coach operations line supervisors to become effective SH&E coaches.
- Analyze SH&E conditions and behaviors, recommending continuous improvements to achieve world‑class performance.
- Implement best‑practice SH&E programs, systems and processes, including training and coaching on safety, accident prevention and environmental protection.
- Oversee worker’s compensation in partnership with Risk Management and understand safety risks across all job functions.
- Investigate all incidents in coordination with site leadership and provide expertise during investigations.
- Promote a zero‑tolerance mindset toward SH&E losses and lead continuous excellence initiatives.
- Provide SH&E technical expertise and mentorship across the site, collaborating with engineering, HR, quality and operations.
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental and/or safety subject area or related field, or equivalent experience in SH&E roles within a manufacturing environment.
- 1–5 years of experience coordinating Safety, Health and Environmental sustainability activities in a manufacturing setting.
- Experience with OSHA, DOT and EPA regulations and local equivalents.
- Professional certifications such as CIH, NEBOSH, ASP, AEM are a plus.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication and digital literacy skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication abilities.
- Ability to build teams across all levels and functions with respect, tact and impactful outcomes.
- Decision‑making capability in routine and emergency situations.
- Experience with technical writing – policies, procedures, reference manuals and training materials.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows environments.
- Initiative to lead continuous improvement efforts and interpret legal/regulatory requirements.
The approximate pay range for this position is $78,000.00 to $90,000.00. Final compensation may vary based on knowledge, skills, abilities and geographic location.
