Salary Range: $75,000.00 To $95,000.00 Annually
Responsible for a complete range of Field Service Engineering activities for our specialized x-ray inspection systems to include installations, preventative maintenance, customer training, trouble shooting, repairs, upgrades as well as remote technical support and service.
Job Description:- Install, troubleshoot, and maintain x-ray systems and components on customer sites.
- Provide on-site and remote customer support as required.
- Train customers in the operation and maintenance of x-ray systems and components.
- Identify and analyze source of problem; recommend proper corrective action and repair or replace parts as needed.
- Interact with a cross-disciplinary engineering team (mechanical, electrical, software, imaging) to help resolve customer problems and provide world class customer service.
- Conduct preventative maintenance tasks on systems and components in the field.
- Perform tasks in accordance and compliance with US and European standards, defined quality standards, all related Company design and safety standards.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation and trip reports.
- Work with Production, Design & Installation teams to revise drawings and ensure accuracy of final built package.
- Test, troubleshoot and debug electrical, components and systems in-house and at customer locations.
- Install, wire, and configure electrical, imaging and x-ray components into new and existing systems.
- Ensure all work is completed in compliance with all applicable local, state, federal Electrical standards.
- Wiring of custom systems to include electrical panel building, machine wiring, pulling wire, terminating, bending conduit, wiring motors and system startup and testing.
- Assist with the preparation and debugging of PLC or PC based control programs.
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned including clean-up, department organization, material movement, and forklift operation.
- Provide mechanical system integration and assembly support.
- This is a facility-based position that requires extensive travel (up to 60%).
- Majority of travel will be Domestic but International travel may be required.
- Work out of facilities in East Haven, CT and Bohemia, NY when not on travel.
- Associate degree in either Electrical or Mechanical Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of comparable field service experience with direct customer interface.
- Minimum 2 years of directly related hands‑on experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in cutting, stripping, tinning, and crimping cable and harness.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams, schematics and engineering documentation.
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident and able to pass personal background and security checks.
- Proficiency in the English language with established written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have a strong understanding of PC’s and be proficient in MS operating systems, networking and MS office applications.
- Ability to work in a fast paced dynamic environment with a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude and problem solving abilities.
- Must be highly organized and self-motivated.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- 2 plus years of experience in integration and troubleshooting of industrial, automated machinery systems.
- Prior experience working with BOMS and or computerized MRP or ERP systems.
- Prior exposure or experience with x-ray technology and/or x-ray inspection systems would be a plus but not required.
- Established understanding and experience working with high voltage power levels (>1KW).
- Familiarity with motor drives (Copley), PLC (Allen Bradley, Siemens) and PC based control system.
- Knowledge of Pneumatic Actuator Control and Relay Logic.
- Knowledge of Machine Guarding Systems and Power Distribution.
- Knowledge of CE, UL, or other applicable regulatory guidelines or standards.
- Experience in tuning and Integration of DC Drives, VFD’s, Servo Drives, PLC’s and PC based control systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD for Electrical.
