Overview
Duties Description Under the direction of Regional Management, the Park Manager 2 will serve as first in command for Connetquot River State Park Preserve.
Responsibilities- Working in collaboration with their direct supervisor and Regional Management to coordinate all aspects of park operation and administration, including but not limited to: freshwater fishing operations and the historic trout hatchery, facility and trail maintenance, special events and interpretive programs, Friends Group coordination, health and safety, incident management, and communication.
- Plan, assign, and assist with the creation and completion of projects for the operation, maintenance, and development of the facility.
- Directly supervise, recruit, hire, train, and evaluate seasonal and permanent staff to ensure that assigned tasks are completed correctly, safely and in a timely fashion.
- Schedule work assignments, assign appropriate staff, and provide clear directions, training, and guidelines to staff for project implementation and completion.
- Identify facility staffing and material needs, and plan, project, and monitor facility budgets to ensure that they remain within approved allocations, oversee facility purchases and monitor to ensure that agency policies and procedures are followed.
- Identify capital facility needs and work with Regional Management and the Capital District on prioritization and implementation.
- Inspect and assess the condition of equipment, grounds, and infrastructure, and ensure maintenance needs are identified, and work is scheduled in a timely manner.
- Implement agency and regional policies and procedures to ensure that agency goals and priorities are effectively met for the facility.
- Oversee revenue collection operations throughout the facility, and ensure that all agency policies, procedures, and reporting are followed.
- Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned.
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS).
To Be Considered For Appointment Through NY HELPS, Or 55 B/c, Candidates Must Meet The Open-competitive Minimum Qualifications For This Position. The Qualifications Are:
* in any two of these functional areas: administration (business, personnel, finance); capital or operational planning; recreational programming; public relations/visitor services; maintenance; or environmental education/interpretation. This experience must have included two years of supervisory experience;
* as described in any of the functional areas listed in option 1 above.
Examples of non-qualifying experience include but are not limited to: working at a gym, ski area/resort, and sport stadiums.
Examples of non-qualifying degrees include but are not limited to: accounting, anthropology, archaeology, biology (all majors), business, history, hospitality, physical education, recreation therapy and sports management.
- A park, recreational facility, or campus is defined as a location that offers at least three of the following elements: athletic fields, skating rink, campgrounds, golf courses, hiking trails, historic structures, marinas, picnic areas, playgrounds, recreation programs, swimming facilities or education, environmental or interpretive programming. You must clearly list this information on your application.
Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. You must be a current New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation (OPRHP) employee with one year of permanent, competitive, or 55-b/55-c service as a Park Manager 2, SG-21.
