The Assistant Director of Community and Family Support Services is a full-time, on-site role based in Bohemia, NY. This role supports the oversight, coordination, and improvement of community and family-focused programs for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Day-to-day responsibilities include supervising and guiding program staff, monitoring service delivery, and ensuring that family and community support services align with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
The Assistant Director collaborates with families, caregivers, and community partners to assess needs, develop service plans, and facilitate access to appropriate resources. Additional duties include tracking program outcomes, preparing reports, assisting with budget and resource management, contributing to quality improvement initiatives, and participating in training and outreach activities to strengthen community engagement.
- Demonstrated experience in and a strong commitment to supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families.
- Background in Human Services, including assessment, advocacy, and coordination of services within diverse populations.
- Experience with OPWDD and ACCES-VR vocationak services, Community Habilitation, Respite, and Family Reimbursement preferred
- Proficiency in Program Management, including planning, implementation, supervision of staff, and evaluation of community-based support programs.
- Experience in Case Management, including developing person-centered plans, coordinating multidisciplinary services, and maintaining accurate documentation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant licensure (e.g., LMSW, LCSW) is preferred.
- Knowledge of I/DD service systems, applicable regulations, and best practices in family and community support.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with families, staff, and community partners.
- Proven organizational and time-management abilities, including competence with basic office software and data tracking tools.
- Willingness to work on-site in Bohemia, NY and travel locally between program locations as needed.
