Overview
BVA Bears IT Solutions is seeking an Appian Enablement Specialist to work in the Harrisburg, PA area. This is a part-time position, between 20-30 hours, that may require 1-2 days on-site as needed. Therefore, candidate must be local to Harrisburg PA area.
As an Appian Enablement Specialist you will serve as a structured training, governance, and sustainability-focused resource responsible for developing Client's internal Appian team into a self‑sufficient, fully capable SAFHER support and forward‑development organization. This role operates in close partnership with the Appian SME / Technical Architect, supporting the technical lead’s architectural guidance by designing and delivering formal training, reinforcing Appian best practices, establishing sustainable operating standards, and performing skills assessments throughout the engagement.
This is not a documentation‑only or classroom‑only training role. The resource will actively embed within the delivery team, participate in hands‑on development activities, and reinforce delivery patterns established by the SME/Architect to ensure durable and measurable team proficiency.
Key Objectives & OutcomesBy the end of the engagement, this position will ensure:
Client's staff demonstrate measurable growth in Appian low‑code proficiency supported by structured training and embedded coaching.
A sustainable Appian operating model exists, including governance standards, reusable patterns, runbooks, and operational documentation.
All training materials, labs, and reference guides are durable, repeatable, and tailored to Client’s roles.
SAFHER‑aligned approaches and architecture patterns—introduced by the Appian SME / Technical Architect—are fully transferred and reinforced through enablement activities.
Client's staff achieve autonomy in Appian delivery and support with minimal reliance on external vendor resources.
Core ResponsibilitiesDesign and deliver a durable, role‑based Appian enablement curriculum for developers, administrators, and business/QA staff.
Create hands‑on training assets, including labs, workshops, exercises, and reference guides.
Develop curriculum aligned with Appian low‑code best practices and the technical patterns established by the Appian SME.
Establish and maintain governance standards, including templates for:
- SAIL interfaces
- Process Models
- Expression rules
- Integration wrappers
- Security patterns
- Reusable components
Support adoption of a configuration‑first delivery model through formal and informal training.
Participate in Agile ceremonies (planning, refinement, standups, reviews, retrospectives).
Conduct pairing sessions using the “show‑me / coach‑me / watch‑me” model.
Reinforce design decisions, low‑code practices, and reusable patterns initiated by the Appian SME.
Provide continuous coaching across the end‑to‑end SDLC:
- Requirements
- Design
- Build
- Test
- Deployment
- Support
Provide actionable feedback during code, design, and configuration reviews.
Help staff strengthen troubleshooting, defect resolution, and production support capability.
Working closely with the Appian SME / Technical Architect, support the transfer and adoption of SAFHER‑aligned approaches, including:
- SAFHER‑oriented data and record patterns
- Architecture and component organization models
- Integration and exception‑handling patterns
- Security and authorization models
- Environment promotion, governance, and release strategies
Translate SAFHER‑aligned design decisions from the SME into practical enablement artifacts and learning experiences for Client's staff.
Perform baseline and ongoing skills assessments by role.
Develop measurable proficiency milestones and track team progress over the 12‑month enablement plan.
Support Client's leadership with reporting demonstrating capability maturity and autonomy goals.
Identify skill gaps and recommend targeted training and coaching activities.
