Position:

The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) is hiring a Financial Specialist for the State Office in Boise, Idaho.

Salary Range: $25.00 - $28.70 Overview:

The Financial Specialist performs specialized financial record-keeping, maintenance, verification, and support functions s position requires proficiency in bookkeeping methods, automated systems, and a strong understanding of financial documentation and reconciliation.

Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger
  • Independently manage and maintain financial records.
  • Perform data entry transactions and ensure accurate recording of financial data.
  • Reconcile accounts by identifying and correcting errors or discrepancies in financial transactions.
  • Maintain ledgers, logs, and batch documents to support various accounting processes.
  • Provide various monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports to program and financial staff.
Research and Coordination
  • Conduct research on accounting systems and records to identify and correct errors in financial transactions.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting issues; reach out to customers, vendors, and programs when information is missing.
  • Meet with programs to address their financial needs and provide necessary documentation or reports.
  • Review and verify financial records to maintain consistency and resolve any discrepancies or errors.
  • Reconcile program databases with Luma, ensuring all data is accurate and aligned between systems.
  • Prepare and review reconciliation reports to support financial accuracy and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications:

Good knowledge of accounting principles and practices.

Experience using personal computers to develop, analyze, and report on financial data; monitoring/reviewing internal financial controls; resolving technical accounting, auditing, or budgeting problems; preparing financial documents for management review; analyzing financial activities and recommending or implementing management actions.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodations):
  • Ability to sit and work on a computer for 2-4 hours at a time.
  • Ability to bend and reach for filing purposes.
  • Some periods of heavy reading and typing are required.
  • Some travel may be required.
