The Ada County Clerk’s Office serves the community through five divisions:
Court Clerks, Recorders, Auditors, Elections, and Community Programs. Performs clerical and support functions related to the court system. Work is performed under well established guidelines set forth by Idaho Code and requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. A Criminal Front Counter Deputy Court Clerk could be trained in the duties in one of the two following areas:
File and Serve or Customer Support. File and Serve Clerks are responsible for monitoring the online File and Serve database and processing confidential documents. Customer Support Clerks are responsible for working with the public: setting court dates, executing judgments and instructing the public on court proceedings and processes to insure completion with out of court proceedings.
A Deputy Court Clerk at the Criminal Front Counter generally performs key clerical functions that are sometimes recurring in nature and can be narrow in scope. At times, however, a clerk will be tasked with more complex clerical tasks which will require a broad range of knowledge. The work requires broad working knowledge of the court system in order to perform these more complex functions of the job.

- Assists the public with court related documents
- File paper documents over the counter
- Collects fees and fines over the counter
- Process all out of court cases
- Operates office equipment
- Creates legal forms, form letters, reports and similar materials
- Sorts, stamps, records and files a wide variety of legal and judicial materials
- Process all types of cases and documents presented to court in File and Serve
- Explains policies and procedures pursuant to requests of the public attorneys and other officials and departments
- Creates case files, updates databases
- Reviews documents presented for compliance to standards
- Responds to correspondence
- Balances receipts and cash incoming on a daily basis
- Handles database management for specific areas of law
- Sets hearing dates and maintains calendar
- Advises the public of their rights
- Processes more sensitive casework
- Cross train in other areas to perform the work of others for vacations, illness, etc.
