Description State of Idaho Opportunity Summary

The Idaho Commission of Pardons and Parole currently has an opening for an Administrative Assistant 2 in Boise, Idaho. The person serving in the position is an important part of the Hearings Division team and is responsible for helping with the detailed preparation required for Parole Hearings and is also responsible for minute taking during Parole Hearing sessions.

Responsibilities
  • Assist in the detailed preparation required for Parole Hearings.
  • Take and edit Parole Hearing minutes.
  • Process the close out work related to Parole Hearing sessions.
  • Administrative activities that require effective public relations and liaison skills.
  • The ability to function with considerable independence.
  • Independently research, analyze, and compile information to prepare reports and resolve problems.
  • Format/type a variety of official/legal documents that are sensitive and confidential in nature.
  • Have good knowledge of Idaho Administrative Rules and statutes specifically related to parole in the state of Idaho.
  • The ability to protect confidential information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Good knowledge of office support functions including word processing and filing. Typically gained by at least one year of experience in an office environment performing a wide variety of office support functions as the predominant responsibility of the job, (answering telephones, using knowledge of computer software, filing systems and general office equipment). OR completion of two semesters of Office Procedures coursework AND six months of office support experience.
  • Good knowledge of composing a variety of business documents. Typically gained by at least 1 year of office experience which required composing and proofreading a variety of business documents on a regular basis.
  • Good knowledge of researching, compiling, and summarizing data for reports. Typically gained by at least one year's work experience compiling data/information for reports OR approximately six months work experience researching and compiling data for reports (completing reports for college-level courses is acceptable).
  • Experience interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulations, policies or services. Typically gained by aiding an executive, administrator, and/or manager by interpreting, applying and explaining complex information such as regulation, policies or services. Experience in this area should have been of an independent nature where you were responsible for establishing your own work methods. Duties required analysis of technical data and independent decision making.
  • Experience independently solving problems/performing liaison activities in a work setting; coordinating activities requiring complex arrangements.
  • Willing to work in a correctional institution.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience taking detailed meeting/hearing minutes.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Good organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability and desire to work independently.
