The Senior Buyer is responsible for securing competitive negotiated pricing and recommending the best vendor partners. We strive to provide consistent, dependable purchasing practices to support our internal and external customers.
Minimum qualifications include a working knowledge of procurement techniques, procedures, policies, accounting, and business contract laws at a level normally acquired through completion of a four-year technical or business degree or related field; and 5-7 years' experience in construction purchasing, preferably electrical industry experience.
Key skills and competencies include strong technical skills, including a working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite, excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines, and the ability to work in a cooperative team environment and support both internal and external customers.
Job responsibilities include preparing written inquiries for vendor supplied items, utilizing problem solving, supplier management, and negotiating skills, negotiating delivery and payment terms, as well as change orders, expediting deliveries and conducting follow-up procedures as necessary, resolving invoice issues with vendors and accounting, performing competitive supplier selections, reviews, proposals and process competitive bids routinely, establishing/maintaining working contact with vendors, processing requisitions, placing purchase orders, and overseeing delivery of goods and services to meet predetermined project due dates, assisting in executing sourcing strategies, preparing and organizing data for presentation and decision making, ordering rental equipment and maintaining records, and performing other tasks and special projects as assigned.
Compensation and benefits include medical, dental, and vision insurance, company paid term life insurance and AD&D coverage, 401k retirement plan with employer match and company contribution, PTO accrual of up to 120 hours in a full year (subject to plan terms thereafter), 7 company paid holidays.
Additional information includes the requirement to maintain a valid driver's license, minimal travel (up to 10%), experience in the construction industry preferred, background check, credit check, MVR and drug screen may be required (will vary by position), and equal opportunity employer.
