Departmental Specialist
Idaho Power, located in the vibrant community of Boise, Idaho, is seeking a motivated Departmental Specialist to join our Power Supply team. It's an exciting time to work for Idaho Power. What does a Departmental Specialist do for us?
Under minimum direction and acting on own initiative and direction, they provide complex specialized support for one or more departments or administrative units. Typically, they support multiple senior or business unit managers and staff. Typical duties include maintenance of complicated data systems; research, compilation and analysis of data for reports/studies. Assignments involve work of a confidential nature and require knowledge of the practices and procedures of the function, company policies and programs.
They act as the coordinator of departmental projects. May provide guidance or work leadership to lower-level staff.
This position serves as direct support to critical operational and compliance functions that enable Power Production Engineering and Resource Development to meet regulatory obligations, maintain documentation integrity, and execute projects efficiently. The Departmental Specialist also acts as a central control point for administrative processes and financial transactions, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and audit readiness across the department.

A COMPETITIVE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE
- Knowledge of the department's functional areas and/or company policies & procedures
- Department-specific systems and software, e.g., Gatekeeper, MS Project, Teams, SharePoint, Asset Suite, etc.
Skills in:
- Proficient in the operation of systems and software
- Solid editing and proofreading skills to assist in composing the format and content of correspondence and technical documents
- Applies proper punctuation, spelling, and grammar when proofreading
Ability to:
- Understand and apply basic mathematical calculations and concepts involving fractions, decimals, percentages, etc.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Education:
High school Diploma or GED - Experience:
3 or more years of related experience or equivalent combination of formal education and work experience
Preferred:
- 2 years of company experience
- 2 years of large construction project experience
Licenses &
Certifications:
- Driver's License required for periodic travel to support thermal facility staff
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires working at a desk/computer for extended periods of time. It requires the use of office equipment, fine motor skills including typing on the computer, dialing phones, filing paper, and working in close proximity to other people.
