As the Construction Director for the Global Facilities U.S. Engineering and Construction department at Micron Technology, Inc., you will be responsible to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of large-scale U.S. Greenfield FAB Construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
You will lead a team of multi-discipline experts, to oversee cost, schedule, quality, project controls, and commissioning initiatives of multiple projects across the U.S., and ensure best-in-class Engineering and Construction practices are implemented.
This is an ideal position for an experienced Construction leader, who thrives in a fast-paced multi-national environment where strategic influencing and outstanding discernment are critical skills. The ideal candidate will have an established track record of deep expertise in construction management, a strong ability to drive best-in-class practices, and the capability to collaborate effectively with various internal and external partners.
Responsibilities oversight of Large-scale Greenfield FAB Construction projects in U.S.
* Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of U.S. Greenfield FAB Construction projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards
* Collaborate with entire Project team including from Global Facilities, Site Facilities, Construction, Procurement, Operations, Manufacturing, IT, Layout and Planning, and other internal and external collaborator teams
* Establish and maintain best-in-class Engineering and Construction practices, focusing on cost, schedule, quality, innovation, efficiency and Sustainability.
* Supervise cost management initiatives and ensure Construction cost tracking, estimating, and execution is able to deliver per budget requirements
* Be responsible for schedule management initiatives to ensure Construction progress tracking, major landmarks, and execution is able to deliver per schedule requirements
* Oversee commissioning process initiatives to ensure facilities are operational and meet all performance criteria before handover.
* Implement comprehensive risk management practices to identify, mitigate, and manage construction risks effectively.
* Ensure that project and subject area scope, schedule, and cost meets customer, requestor, and project needs
* Ensure appropriate communication and collaboration with Facilities, Design, Construction, Procurement and Manufacturing partners, to deliver project objectives and results.
* Work with Engineering design team for review of design packages and providing documented comments and feedback on constructability, cost, schedule, pre-fabrication/off-site manufacturing, and Value Engineering.
* Ensure construction is in compliance with all standards, codes, and regulations
* Monitor progress and provide Engineering and Design support during construction projects
* Provide support for project cost and schedule estimates and justification for approval
* Provide supervision and coordination of Consultant resources
Lead and Manage Multi-Discipline Construction Team
* Technically lead the Multi-Discipline Construction team focused on strategic and operational excellence
* Support building a skilled, strategic Construction team with expertise in multi-functional field areas including Civil, Structural, Architectural, Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Gas, Water and Wastewater, Controls, Cost, and Scheduling (including recruitment, training, staffing, and retention)
* Invest time in coaching, mentoring, and developing team member's career paths
* Support the network effort to implement, monitor and drive continuous improvement for success of Micron's strategic programs and initiatives
* Identify, manage and supervise key performance indicators for the department.
* Provide technical advice and support to overcome challenges and roadblocks in project planning & execution
Minimum Qualifications:
* 15 to 20-years experience in Construction-related industry, with Semiconductor Construction experience preferred
* Minimum 5-years experience as Construction project manager or Construction director role, working for large Construction General Contractor or Construction Management firm.
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in Construction, Building, Project Management, Engineering or Architecture related field required
* Technical expertise, knowledge, and experience on Facilities and Semiconductor Construction and Systems
* Ability to travel 15-25% of the time or more, to the Micron network sites and FAB Construction project locations including during Critical Project phases or Site Activities
