We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Traveling Superintendent to oversee commercial construction projects across multiple locations. This leadership role is responsible for managing all on-site construction activities, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess strong field leadership, excellent communication skills, and extensive experience coordinating project teams, subcontractors, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Site Management
Direct and manage daily construction operations from project startup through completion.
Supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel to ensure efficient project execution.
Coordinate site logistics, workforce planning, project sequencing, and material management.
Monitor project schedules, milestones, and overall progress.
Maintain accurate field reports, project records, and documentation.
Quality Control & Compliance
Ensure all work complies with project plans, specifications, contracts, and industry standards.
Conduct regular site inspections to verify quality workmanship and proper installation.
Review completed work and resolve deficiencies promptly.
Maintain and update as-built drawings throughout project execution.
Safety Management
Enforce OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and company safety standards.
Conduct safety meetings, jobsite audits, and training sessions.
Identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
Foster a proactive safety culture among all project personnel.
Scheduling & Coordination
Develop, manage, and update project schedules.
Coordinate subcontractor activities, equipment usage, and material deliveries.
Collaborate with project managers, engineers, architects, and owners to resolve field issues.
Monitor labor productivity and implement corrective measures when necessary.
Contract Administration
Manage Requests for Information (RFIs), Change Orders, and Potential Change Orders (PCOs).
Track project modifications and maintain supporting documentation.
Assist with project closeout, punch list completion, and turnover documentation.
Stakeholder Communication
Serve as the primary on-site representative for project stakeholders.
Provide regular project updates to management and clients.
Build and maintain strong relationships with owners, consultants, inspectors, and subcontractors.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Construction Superintendent, Project Superintendent, or similar leadership role.
Proven success managing commercial construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction methods, sequencing, and trade coordination.
Knowledge of ADA requirements, building codes, and regulatory compliance standards.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
Experience managing self-perform labor and subcontractor operations.
Ability and willingness to travel extensively for project assignments.
