Assistant Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction

Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 DOE + Bonus Potential
A growing and well-established Heavy Civil General Contractor is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to join its Boise-based team. This individual will support the planning, execution, and successful delivery of underground utility, site development, roadway, public works, and heavy civil construction projects throughout the Treasure Valley and surrounding areas.
This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Engineer looking to take the next step in their career or an Assistant Project Manager seeking greater responsibility and exposure to large-scale infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Assist Project Managers with the overall execution of heavy civil construction projects.
- Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Track project budgets, production quantities, schedules, and cost reports.
- Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field operations teams.
- Support procurement efforts, including material tracking and subcontract administration.
- Participate in project meetings and maintain accurate meeting minutes and action items.
- Assist with project forecasting, scheduling, and progress reporting.
- Help ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards.
- Work closely with Superintendents to support field operations and project objectives.
- Review plans, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- 2+ years of experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, Assistant Project Manager, or similar construction management role.
- Experience supporting heavy civil, site development, underground utility, water/wastewater, earthwork, or roadway projects.
- Familiarity with public works and municipal construction projects is highly preferred.
- Experience managing RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
- Understanding of construction schedules, budgets, and cost control processes.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
- Exposure to field operations and construction means and methods.
- Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
- Equivalent heavy civil construction experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, HCSS, Viewpoint, Timberline, or similar construction software is a plus.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and contract documents.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
