Sr. Project Manager

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, execution, and financial performance of assigned heavy-civil construction projects. This role manages complex projects and may oversee multiple projects or project teams simultaneously.

The Senior Project Manager partners with owners, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, utility companies, agencies, field leadership, and craft employees to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with contractual and quality requirements. This position also provides leadership and mentorship to Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other salaried employees and reports to the Project Executive or designated operational leader.

• Lead multiple complex projects or major individual projects, typically valued at $25 million or more.
• Maintain overall responsibility for project safety, quality, schedule, cost, contracts, and client satisfaction.
• Direct all phases of assigned projects, from preconstruction and mobilization through closeout and warranty.
• Coordinate project teams, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, crews, materials, and equipment.
• Identify project risks, constraints, and performance issues and implement timely solutions.
• Support estimating, preconstruction, and field operations as needed.

• Maintain accountability for project profitability and financial performance.
• Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow, commitments, revenue projections, and earned-value reporting.
• Analyze cost, schedule, productivity, and margin performance and implement corrective action when needed.
• Lead project financial reviews and communicate risks, opportunities, and forecasts to operational leadership.
• Review and approve project commitments within established authority levels.
• Manage owner and subcontractor change orders, including scope, pricing, negotiation, documentation, and resolution.
• Identify opportunities to improve margin, productivity, and equipment utilization.

• Interpret and administer contracts, subcontracts, plans, specifications, and Company standard agreements.
• Communicate contractual responsibilities, risks, rights, and obligations to project teams.
• Prepare and review notices, correspondence, change documentation, and other records needed to protect the Company’s interests.
• Lead claims and dispute resolution, including documentation, analysis, negotiation, and settlement.
• Negotiate and administer subcontracts, monitor performance, and review subcontractor payment requests.
• Coordinate with operational leadership, the Contracts Manager, and legal counsel as appropriate.

• Lead preconstruction, project handoff, constructability, logistics, staffing, equipment, and subcontracting efforts.
• Review bid assumptions, plans, specifications, existing conditions, production expectations, and project risks.
• Develop and maintain short-term, resource-loaded, and critical path schedules.
• Evaluate schedule impacts and communicate effects on progress, cost, and profitability.
• Forecast staffing, equipment, materials, subcontractors, and other project resources.
• Ensure project teams maintain accurate planning and production-tracking processes.

• Champion the Company’s safety culture and integrate safety into project planning and execution.
• Oversee project safety plans, hazard analyses, method statements, meetings, audits, and corrective actions.
