Construction Superintendent

The Construction Superintendent leads on-site operations to deliver projects safely, on schedule, and within budget. This role coordinates subcontractors, enforces quality and safety standards, and liaises with project managers, clients, and inspectors to ensure successful completion of commercial and/or residential construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day on-site construction activities, ensuring work progresses according to schedule and project plans.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, trade crews, and on-site staff; assign tasks and monitor productivity.
  • Enforce safety policies and maintain a jobsite culture that prioritizes OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and change orders; communicate updates to the team.
  • Conduct regular site inspections for quality control and adherence to project specifications; resolve issues promptly.
  • Monitor project schedule, identify potential delays, and implement corrective actions to maintain timelines.
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment, and site logistics to optimize workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Prepare and maintain daily reports, progress logs, and documentation for project managers and stakeholders.
  • Facilitate subcontractor and client meetings, and communicate progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
  • Support commissioning, punch-list completion, and final closeout activities to ensure client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience as a Construction Superintendent or Superintendent on commercial or large residential projects.
  • Proven experience in construction management, including scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, building codes, and safety regulations (OSHA preferred).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills; able to coordinate diverse teams and subcontractors.
  • Proficient with construction management software and tools (scheduling tools, MS Office, mobile reporting apps).
  • Valid drivers license; reliable transportation to travel between sites.
  • Preferred:
    Construction Superintendent certification, OSHA 30, or relevant trade qualifications.
