tructural Steel Engineering Firm on their search for a Senior Project Manager to oversee complex structural steel projects from pre-construction through closeout.
Summary:
The Senior Project Manager will be a key driver of the company's collaborative project delivery process, overseeing multiple projects while providing leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the Project Management team. This individual will be responsible for project management and execution through all phases of construction, including pre-construction, detailing, fabrication, delivery, erection, and closeout.
The ideal candidate will be proactive, transparent, highly organized, and capable of creating clarity in uncertain or complex project situations. In addition to managing their own projects, this individual will mentor and guide Project Managers while ensuring consistency in project delivery, profitability, schedule performance, document management, and client satisfaction.

Job Responsibilities:- Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Project Managers, providing guidance and performance feedback
- Oversee resource allocation across the Project Management team to ensure appropriate personnel are assigned to meet project deadlines
- Foster a culture of collaboration, communication, accountability, and consistent project delivery
- Organize and lead regular team meetings to share best practices, resolve challenges, and track project KPIs
- Coordinate with general contractors, owners, architects, subcontractors, field personnel, and other project stakeholders
- Manage and monitor communication and coordination of project budgets with internal and external departments
- Proactively communicate project status, issues, risks, and opportunities to company management
- Prepare scope of work assessments and manage quotes from outside subcontractors
- Select, coordinate, and manage subcontractor performance
- Conduct formal and informal project status meetings with key stakeholders
- Create and manage project schedules by working backward from required project and installation dates
- Identify and address unreasonable expectations or schedule requirements that do not align with established work procedures
- Coordinate fabrication and delivery schedules to ensure materials are available when required
- Coordinate with field subcontractors regarding installation of finished and fabricated products
- Monitor subcontracted erection activities and ensure on-site work quality meets project expectations
- Coordinate detailing priorities based on project requirements, fabrication schedules, and delivery needs
- Oversee in-house and subcontracted detailing resources as project needs require
- Manage project submittals, including shop drawings, samples, technical data, and related documentation
- Prepare and manage RFIs to ensure questions are addressed and resolved in a timely manner
- Manage procurement processes and ensure project invoices are properly coded and routed for accurate cost tracking
- Manage project budgets to achieve targeted profitability
- Monitor actual project costs throughout the project lifecycle and identify potential cost overruns
- Calculate additional costs resulting from project changes and promptly issue change order requests
- Track change order requests through resolution and approval
- Prepare project estimates and manage project budgets, including monthly project reviews with management
- Prepare and manage monthly project billings
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously across various stages of completion
- Maintain project scope in accordance with contract requirements
- Review contracts, drawings, specifications, estimates, and other project documents to fully understand project scope
- Identify revisions, discrepancies, and potential value engineering opportunities
- Prepare and issue project-specific contracts and purchase orders
- Maintain thorough documentation of project events, decisions, changes, and communications
- Identify and mitigate project risks and implement solutions to resolve issues
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards, quality control requirements, and contractual obligations
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships to promote customer satisfaction and repeat business
- Drive project outcomes related to profitability, accounts receivable, schedule performance, document management, and client satisfaction
- 15+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication, steel erection, construction, or a combination thereof
- 12+ years of project management experience
- Extensive knowledge of structural steel detailing, fabrication, and erection processes
