Job Purpose

The Superintendent for Advanced Technology, Healthcare, and Life Science projects leads all field operations on large, complex construction projects that can range from $75 million to $300 million. This role is responsible for executing technically sophisticated work safely, efficiently, and with a high level of precision, while meeting rigorous quality, regulatory, and operational requirements.

This position requires demonstrated experience delivering projects of significant scale and complexity—such as healthcare facilities, research laboratories, clean rooms, and other mission‑critical environments—and the ability to lead large, multidisciplinary teams through all phases of construction. The Superintendent is highly proficient in Primavera P6 scheduling, applies Lean Construction principles to drive reliable planning and continuous improvement, and is known for strong collaboration and clear, effective communication with owners, designers, and trade partners.

This role is well‑suited for a Superintendent level III, IV or V who can lead large teams, mentor area superintendents, and partner closely with Project Management to proactively identify risk, solve problems, and drive results. Clear, consistent communication and strong collaboration with owners, designers, municipal authorities, and trade partners are critical to success.

Working closely with Project Management and Design teams from preconstruction through closeout, this role champions constructability, detailed planning, and proactive risk management while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and respect consistent with Andersen Construction’s core values.

Oversees all field operations and total construction effort to ensure project is constructed in a safe manner and in accordance with design, budget, quality, and schedule. Coordinates plans and specifications with Designer to clarify discrepancies. Has thorough understanding of Contract terms; able to identify contracting risks and steps to mitigate. Has thorough understanding of Building Codes and permitting process. Able to manage to the budget and identify more cost-effective ways of doing work.

Qualifications

and Technical Skills
  • 10–15+ years construction experience with previous superintendent experience.
  • Understanding of all aspects of building construction.
  • Understanding of current IBC and local codes and permitting process.
