Role Overview
We're looking for a detail-oriented Apparel Design Specialist to join our remote team. This role is central to our production workflow you'll be responsible for preparing artwork for apparel proofing, processing files for screen printing, and digitizing embroidery designs with precision and technical expertise. When production volume allows, you'll also contribute to internal marketing materials, making this a well-rounded creative position.
The ideal candidate is self-driven, deadline-focused, and thrives working independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and prepare artwork files for client proofing on apparel
- Rip and process art files for the screen-printing production workflow
- Digitize artwork into embroidery-ready files (DST, PES, EXP, JEF, VP3, or equivalent formats), ensuring proper stitch type selection, underlay, density, and push/pull compensation based on fabric type
- Apply specialty digitizing techniques including 3D puff, appliqu, and tackle twill where required
- Review and quality-check all files thoroughly before they go to production errors in digitizing translate directly to costly production mistakes
- Coordinate and communicate clearly with the remote production team to ensure smooth file handoffs
- Support the creation of internal marketing pieces and print collateral when bandwidth allows
Requirements
- Proven experience in apparel graphic preparation and production art
- Expert-level embroidery digitizing using industry-standard software such as Wilcom, Hatch, Pulse, or similar
- Deep understanding of stitch types (satin, fill, running), underlay techniques, stitch density, and fabric behavior across different material types
- Proficiency in screen printing file setup and RIP software for production-ready output
- Strong working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and/or CorelDRAW for artwork cleanup, vectorizing, and file conversion
- Experience with specialty digitizing — 3D puff, appliqu, tackle twill is a strong plus
- Background in actual embroidery machine operation is a bonus — understanding the end result makes for better digitizing
- Ability to manage multiple file types and meet tight deadlines with high attention to detail
- Highly self-managed with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote setting
