The Digital Content Creator is responsible for producing compelling visual and multimedia content that helps tell the story of the Idaho Department of Education, its work and the people and communities it serves. Working closely with the Digital Communications and Brand Manager and other members of the Communications team, this position plans, captures, produces and edits photography, video and audio content for social media, websites, presentations, events and other public-facing communications.

This position combines strong technical production skills with creativity, storytelling and strategic communication. The Digital Content Creator proactively identifies opportunities to educate and engage the public, showcase department initiatives and highlight Idaho students, educators, schools and communities. The position is expected to understand both how to create high-quality content and how that content supports broader department communication, outreach and brand goals.

This is a full‑time position serving under an appointment of the State Superintendent of Public Instruction.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Plan, capture, produce and edit high-quality photography, video and audio content for department communications, social media, websites, presentations, events and other platforms.
  • Work closely with the Digital Communications and Brand Manager and other Communications team members to develop creative concepts and translate communication goals into engaging visual stories.
  • Manage video projects from concept through completion, including pre-production planning, story development, shot lists, location planning, scheduling, filming, audio capture, editing, graphics, captions and final delivery.
  • Photograph department events, programs, employees, students, educators, schools, partners and other subjects for use across department communications.
  • Capture and produce interviews, testimonials, short-form social video, feature stories, event coverage, educational content and other multimedia projects.
  • Operate cameras, lenses, microphones, lighting systems, stabilizers and other photography, video and audio production equipment.
  • Apply working knowledge of lighting, composition, framing, exposure, audio recording and other production techniques to create professional-quality content in studio, office, school and field environments.
  • Edit photography, video and audio content, including color correction, sound mixing, graphics, titles, captions and other post-production elements.
  • Adapt content for different platforms, formats and audiences, including vertical and horizontal video, short‑ and long‑form content, social media and web use.
  • Create content that is accessible and adheres to applicable accessibility requirements, including captions and other appropriate accommodations for public-facing multimedia.
  • Proactively identify visual storytelling opportunities that promote department programs, initiatives, events and resources and help educate Idaho families, educators and communities about public education.
  • Develop creative approaches to recurring department content and identify new formats, trends and storytelling techniques that can improve audience engagement and understanding.
  • Contribute ideas to digital and social media initiatives and collaborate on content calendars, initiative planning and other outreach efforts.
