This is an on-site position in Boise, Idaho. Candidates must currently live in the Boise area or be willing and able to relocate.

Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Art Director is to create, execute, and manage the overall visual communication style for given assignments. This role is foundational in the creation of multi-faceted campaigns requiring the highest level of visual acuity. The Art Director (AD) is an essential part of a collaborative team with a copywriter -- together developing conceptual advertising and design platforms, campaign ideas, and high-level creative solutions with complex communication and branding challenges.

The AD should be well versed in the mediums of digital, print, film, photography and possess an exquisite sense of typography, design, layout, color with the ability to execute each handily.

Essential Functions:

  • Conceptualize and create stunning, arresting, bold visual ideas and campaign platforms based on the project requirements.
  • Partner with a copywriter in the creation of prototype ideas to final finished production.
  • Direct, coach and inspire agency designers and production artists.
  • Work closely with creative directors in all aspects of the creative development process, from strategy development to the final execution.
  • Prepare and present client-ready prototypes, designs, and references in presentation format.

  • Ability to clearly explain technical subjects to internal and external personnel.

Education and Experience

Education

  • BS or BA degree or related degree preferred but not required.
  • Additional classes/experience and/or portfolio schooling a plus.

Experience

  • 5+ years of agency or marketing department experience
  • Knowledge of print, broadcast, and digital communications, including social media, is required.
  • Well versed in the Adobe Creative suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), required.
  • Experience with photography/film (technical, indoor, understand lighting, composition), and directing photo and video shoots, preferred.
