Technical Apparel Designer
The Technical Apparel Designer is responsible for designing and developing high-performance apparel that meets Eberlestock's standards for quality, durability, functionality, and fit. This role partners closely with Product Management, Product Development, and manufacturing partners to transform product concepts into production-ready garments that perform in demanding outdoor environments.
The ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of garment construction, technical fabrics, fit, and manufacturing processes, while maintaining a passion for creating innovative products that support hunters, military professionals, law enforcement, and outdoor enthusiasts.

Key responsibilities include designing and developing technical apparel from concept through production, creating and maintaining detailed technical packages, specifying technical fabrics, developing apparel systems, designing garments that integrate effectively with technical equipment, leading garment fit sessions, collaborating with manufacturing partners, coordinating prototype evaluations, monitoring product quality, maintaining project timelines, and staying informed of industry trends.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in apparel design, fashion design, textile engineering, product development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience; 3+ years of experience in technical apparel design, product development, or apparel engineering; strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, fit development, and manufacturing processes; experience creating technical packages using Adobe Illustrator or similar design software; working knowledge of performance fabrics, waterproof technologies, insulation systems, and garment construction techniques;
strong project management and organizational skills; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams and international manufacturing partners; strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality; experience designing hunting, tactical, military, backpacking, mountaineering, or outdoor performance apparel; familiarity with waterproof/breathable technologies, seam sealing, bonding, and advanced garment construction methods; experience working directly with overseas manufacturing partners;
knowledge of camouflage systems, technical hunting apparel, and load carriage integration; personal experience hunting, backpacking, mountaineering, or participating in other demanding outdoor pursuits; and ability to travel occasionally, both domestically and internationally, including visits to manufacturing partners, field testing events, and other business-related activities.
