AutoCAD Systems and Initiatives Lead
We are seeking an experienced professional to lead and manage our AutoCAD systems and initiatives. The ideal candidate will define and implement CAD strategies, establish standards, and provide advanced system administration. This role requires collaboration with cross-functional teams and offers the opportunity to mentor and develop CAD users.
Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Strategy
- Define and lead CAD strategy, roadmap, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish CAD standards, governance models, and best practices.
- Advise on CAD technologies, workflows, and innovation.
- Mentor and develop CAD users, power users, and junior CAD administrators.
- Lead cross-functional initiatives involving engineering, design, IT, and project teams.
Advanced System Administration
- Oversee installation, configuration, upgrades, and lifecycle management of AutoCAD and related platforms.
- Manage enterprise licensing, network deployments, and cloud integrations.
- Monitor system performance and implement improvements for scalability and reliability.
- Lead troubleshooting of complex CAD system issues and coordinate with IT and vendors.
Standards, Quality & Compliance
- Develop, maintain, and enforce advanced CAD standards, templates, and libraries.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure quality, consistency, and adherence to standards.
- Govern version control, documentation practices, and release management.
Customization & Automation
- Design and implement advanced customizations (AutoLISP, .NET, scripts, APIs).
- Automate repetitive workflows to improve efficiency and reduce errors.
- Evaluate and deploy third-party tools and integrations.
- Continuously enhance CAD environments to support evolving project needs.
Data & Systems Integration
- Lead CAD data management strategy, including file structures, naming conventions, and archival processes.
- Integrate CAD systems with PLM, BIM, or document management systems (e.g., Autodesk Vault, Client/Forma).
- Ensure data integrity, security, and accessibility across teams.
- Support digital transformation initiatives involving design data.
User Support & Training
- Provide expert-level support for complex CAD issues.
- Develop and deliver advanced training programs and workshops.
- Create comprehensive documentation, standards manuals, and training content.
- Promote adoption of standards and new tools across the organization.
Project & Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with project managers to align CAD deliverables with project timelines and quality expectations.
- Act as liaison between stakeholders, IT, and external vendors.
- Support large-scale or high-impact projects requiring advanced CAD coordination.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7 years of professional AutoCAD experience, including advanced usage.
- 3–5 years in a CAD administration or leadership role.
- Deep expertise in AutoCAD configuration, customization, and standards development.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Autodesk ecosystem (Civil 3D, Revit, MEP, Inventor, Navisworks, etc.).
- Strong programming/scripting skills (AutoLISP, VBA,.NET, Python).
- Experience with enterprise deployment tools and cloud collaboration platforms.
- Familiarity with BIM workflows, digital twin concepts, or PLM systems.
- Experience leading CAD/BIM teams or enterprise standardization initiatives.
