VDC Designer / BIM Coordinator
Location: Boise, (On‑Site)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
Reports To: Construction Manager
OverviewThe VDC Designer / BIM Coordinator supports complex construction projects by developing, maintaining, and coordinating detailed 3D models. This role requires strong proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to ensure accurate, high-quality model deliverables. Ideal candidates have experience with mechanical piping or large‑scale industrial/mission‑critical environments such as semiconductor or data center projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesBIM Coordination
- Develop, manage, and update 3D BIM models in Revit according to project standards and specifications.
- Perform clash detection and model federation using Navisworks Manage.
- Coordinate with MEP, structural, and architectural teams to ensure accurate model integration.
- Maintain standardized file structures, naming conventions, and BIM libraries.
- Prepare construction-ready views, sheets, and documentation for field use.
- Manage model sharing, version control, and collaboration through BIM 360/ACC and other CDE platforms.
- Support issue tracking and model-based coordination using tools such as Navisworks and Newforma Konekt.
- Participate in coordination meetings and communicate updates to internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct quality checks and audits to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate with QA/QC, construction management, and field teams to resolve coordination issues.
- Attend subcontractor meetings and daily/weekly field meetings to stay aligned with site conditions and sequencing.
Technical Skills
- 1–2 years of experience in the AEC industry; experience with industrial or mission‑critical projects preferred.
- 1+ years of experience leading BIM coordination.
- Proficient in Revit, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD, and BIM 360/ACC.
- Familiarity with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office 365.
- Proficient in P& and LOD 500 modeling.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Understanding of MEP systems and coordination workflows.
- Experience with scripting/automation tools (Dynamo, Python, Powershell) preferred.
- Skilled in issue tracking, problem-solving, and design deviation analysis using point cloud tools (e.g., ReCap).
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
- Effective time management and organizational skills.
- Comfortable working in fast‑paced environments with shifting priorities.
- Trades experience preferred.
- High school diploma or GED required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Ability to support extended hours or off-shift work based on project needs (up to ~50 hours/week).
