Role OverviewThe Vice President of Physician RCM Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing end‑to‑end Revenue Cycle Management operations for assigned physician enterprise and ambulatory portfolios. This role owns operational performance across professional billing, AR, and payment posting while serving as a strategic advisor to physician leadership, practice administrators, and executive stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities- Partner closely with R1 Customer Executives and physician leadership to align operational objectives with practice financial and strategic goals
- Serve as a trusted advisor and thought leader to physician executives, practice administrators, and health system leadership
- Own all management decisions related to daily physician RCM operations within assigned portfolios
- Drive operational excellence across professional billing, charge capture, AR, and denials management
- Lead large, multi‑layered teams including Senior Directors, ensuring strong leadership development and continuity
- Establish a culture of accountability, performance transparency, and continuous improvement
- Build strong partnerships with physician groups to support practice growth, provider satisfaction, and long‑term engagement
- Execute, scale, and continuously refine R1’s physician RCM operating model
- Lead and manage both on‑shore and off‑shore teams supporting professional billing and ambulatory workflows
- Drive automation initiatives to reduce the cost footprint across physician revenue cycle operations while maintaining quality and compliance
- Partner with Customer Executives to deliver on financial performance, service level commitments, and client satisfaction
- Serve as an executive‑level thought leader for physician leadership and practice executives
- Own operational governance, KPI performance, and issue resolution across assigned physician portfolios
- Focus on the development, performance, and long‑term growth of operational leadership teams
- Bachelor’s degree required; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Minimum of 12 years of experience, including at least 8 years in a senior leadership or management role
- Deep expertise in Physician Revenue Cycle Management, including professional billing and ambulatory operations
- Proven experience leading large, complex teams, including Senior Director‑level leaders
- Demonstrated success driving automation, cost optimization, and operational transformation
- Experience with Epic and/or Athena
For this US‑based position, the base pay range is $ - $ per year. Individual pay is determined by role, level, location, job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
This job is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan at a target of 30.00%.
