Science & Engineering Librarian; Tenure-Track Faculty

Albertsons Library invites applications and nominations for a collaborative and innovative Science and Engineering Librarian to join the Instruction and Research Services Unit. This is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position.

The successful candidate will serve as the subject librarian assigned to science and engineering departments and provide specialized research, instructional, and scholarly support to undergraduate students, graduate students, faculty, and staff. In collaboration with subject librarian colleagues, this librarian will design and deliver course-integrated instruction, provide in-depth research consultations, and support disciplinary research practices in STEM fields.

This position contributes to the development and assessment of the Library’s online Research and Critical Inquiry Microcourse and plays an active role in advancing student learning, faculty research, and graduate education. The librarian will also participate in reference services and engage in library and university initiatives aligned with Boise State’s research and teaching mission.

• Serve as subject librarian to assigned science and/or engineering departments, building strong partnerships with faculty, staff, and students.
• Design and maintain course-integrated and stand-alone instruction for undergraduate and graduate students in science and engineering programs.
• Contribute to the ongoing development, revision, and assessment of the Research and Critical Inquiry Microcourse (RCIM)
• Engage in point-of-need research assistance and provide science and engineering subject‑specific research consultations for faculty, staff, and students in person and online.
• Work collaboratively with library colleagues on initiatives that support the library’s and university’s mission and goals.
• Support state and university affordable learning initiatives.
• Improve librarianship practices through professional development and implement relevant advances in academic librarianship.
• Pursue research and scholarship activities in accordance with library and university tenure and promotion guidelines .
• Engage in professional service at the library, university, community, and state/regional/national/international levels.
