The School of Kinesiology invites applications for a full‑time, 9‑month, Assistant Teaching Professor faculty position in Exercise or Sport Science (including, but not limited to, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Science, Sport Science, Kinesiology).
Teaching ResponsibilitiesThis position has an 80% teaching responsibility focused on a 4/4 course load or credit equivalent, and a 20% University service expectation.
- Undergraduate courses primarily in exercise science
- Additional teaching assignments may include courses related to nutrition, motor behavior, human performance, or other courses assigned by the Divisional Dean
This role is a temporary, one‑year appointment. Renewal is not guaranteed but may be considered for one to two additional years based on funding, enrollment, performance, and school needs. The position is based at the Boise State University campus in Boise, Idaho, with an anticipated start date of August 2026. Employment visa sponsorship is unavailable for this position.
School OverviewThe School of Kinesiology is dedicated to advancing knowledge of lifelong health, physical activity, and sport through excellence in teaching, innovative research, and high‑impact service. The School employs 19 full‑time faculty, a team of dedicated adjunct faculty, and three professional staff members, and serves nearly 1000 undergraduate and graduate students through an array of programs.
Qualifications- Advanced or terminal degree in a Kinesiology‑related field, or ABD status with most or all coursework completed, and demonstrated teaching experience or equivalent substantial applied experience in a Kinesiology‑related field
- Ability to teach exercise science courses
- Holds a terminal degree in a Kinesiology‑related field
- Successful record of teaching at the college or university level
- Ability to teach related areas in Kinesiology including, but not limited to, nutrition, motor behavior (learning and development), exercise science, human performance, and other kinesiology‑related courses
- Demonstrated record of service within an academic unit and/or profession
- Cover letter with a list of Kinesiology courses the applicant is qualified to teach and experience teaching online courses
- Teaching philosophy statement (including strategies for teaching exercise science and other areas qualified to teach)
- Contact information for three professional references
Position will remain open until filled, with review to begin on March 1st, 2026.
