Job Description
Do you love teaching the gospel of Jesus Christ? We are looking for Seminary and Institute Teachers in the Boise & Nampa area to inspire students of all ages. Candidates will teach in a Christ‑centered, learner‑focused, and scripturally based manner and will collaborate with parents and priesthood leaders to serve the rising generation.
Students will receive a 15–20 hour per week assignment, with teaching duties, preparation, and administrative responsibilities. The experience may last from one academic term up to a full high‑school year, during which teachers undergo ongoing assessment.
Responsibilities- Teach the doctrines and principles of the gospel as found in the scriptures and the words of the prophets.
- Present material in a manner that leads to understanding and edification.
- Use approved curriculum and teaching materials.
- Teach the number of classes recommended by policy in consultation with the area director.
- Accept faculty assignments and observe classroom teaching to provide constructive feedback.
- Strive for continual professional growth.
- Provide useful information and respect the time of priesthood leaders.
- Establish clear and consistent methods of communication with leadership.
- Work closely with priesthood leaders to identify and enroll all potential students.
- Cultivate a learning environment of love, respect, and purpose.
- Schedule teaching and administrative time as required; full‑time instructors are not eligible for overtime.
- Maintain the recommended teaching load: four of five trimester classes, six of eight block‑period classes, or a minimum of six classes in a seven‑period day.
- Keep student‑to‑teacher ratio near 150‑180:1 and limit class size to no more than thirty‑five students.
- Seminary teachers:
Bachelor’s degree from an approved institution and completion of prescribed religious teacher training and student teaching. - Institute teachers:
Master’s degree from an approved institution and completion of prescribed religious teacher training and student teaching. - Worthy and active Church member with a current temple recommend.
- Exhibit testimony of the Savior and His restored gospel.
- Exemplify Church teachings regarding marriage and family life.
- Maintain a reputation for meeting financial commitments.
- Demonstrate ability to manage a classroom of teenagers.
- Show outstanding scripture‑teaching skills both face‑to‑face and online.
