Assistant Professor of Marketing (Non-Tenure Track) – Boise State University

Full‑time, non‑tenure track position beginning August 2026. The role includes a fixed 3‑3 course load, peer‑reviewed research, and departmental service. Salary and promotion opportunities mirror those of a tenure‑track faculty, allowing advancement to associate and full professor ranks without tenure.

Position Overview

Clinical or Teaching Assistant Professor of Marketing. Clinical faculty provide a distinctive connection to practice, engaging industry and community partners. Teaching faculty focus primarily on excellence in instruction and departmental service without an explicit expectation of community engagement. Both clinical and teaching faculty must meet the College of Business and Economics minimum research standards to remain AACSB qualified as Scholarly Academic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach a fixed 3‑3 course load and develop curriculum aligned with industry needs.
  • Employ active and experiential learning strategies such as client projects, service learning, and technology‑enhanced instruction.
  • Mentor students and provide meaningful feedback.
  • Conduct peer‑reviewed research sufficient to remain scholarly active as defined by AACSB.
  • Engage with professional associations and industry partners to enhance scholarship and classroom practice.
  • Support departmental initiatives that grow academic programs, foster collaboration, and prepare students for the evolving landscape of marketing, including AI and data‑driven decision making.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate (PhD or DBA) in marketing or a related discipline awarded by a university accredited by AACSB/EQUIS/AMBA or an equivalent governmental accreditation body on or before August 2026.
  • Demonstrated potential to remain scholarly active consistent with AACSB standards.
  • Evidence of teaching effectiveness at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A record of applied, pedagogical, or practice‑oriented scholarship (conference presentations, practitioner publications, instructional innovation).
  • Experience teaching a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated use of experiential teaching methods.
  • Evidence of strong interpersonal skills and the ability to contribute to a collaborative, professional, and innovative departmental culture.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary: $136,500. Standard 9‑month faculty contract paid over 12 months, renewable annually unless noted otherwise.
