Boise State University Construction Management Professor

The Boise State University Department of Construction Management (CM) seeks to hire two full-time, 9-month tenure-track professors, one at the Assistant rank and one at the Assistant or Associate rank, beginning Spring 2027 or Fall 2027. The successful candidate will bring construction management industry expertise and innovative scholarship to our growing program. As part of our accomplished and supportive faculty, you'll contribute to a thriving, forward-thinking program that's experiencing exciting growth, including the launch of our new state-of-the-art ESI CM Building.

This faculty position includes teaching face-to-face undergraduate courses, conducting research and publishing in areas related to construction management, and contributing to the department's service and outreach activities.

Teaching responsibilities may include undergraduate courses in the following areas: introduction to construction management, construction materials & methods, drawings, specs & codes, construction estimating, scheduling, MEP Systems, construction surveying, construction safety, soils & construction equipment, project management, jobsite management, advanced concrete methods and materials, project cost controls, and/or statics and mechanics of materials. The normal teaching load for this position is 6-7 credit hours per semester (typically, 2 courses), depending on department needs.

The successful candidate will have some experience in the US construction industry and be able to bring that experience to the classroom, as well as engage in continuing education to remain up-to-date in the profession.

The candidate will be expected to develop a productive research program related to construction management, including grant writing, securing external funding, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at academic conferences. While we aspire to have one, there is currently no graduate program in the CM department, so the successful candidate will be expected to engage undergraduate students in research projects and seek collaboration with graduate students from other related departments for research and mentoring opportunities.

In addition to teaching and scholarship, the candidate will be expected to participate in departmental discussions and decisions related to content, learning outcomes, and pedagogy in the program. The candidate will be expected to mentor students and participate in service activities such as working with student organizations, clubs, and competition teams. The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the department, college, and university through service on committees and participation in professional organizations.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a team-player attitude.
