Director Of Prospect Development
The Director of Prospect Development oversees all aspects of prospect research, management, and data analysis for the Boise State University Foundation. This role leads the process of identifying, researching, and tracking prospects for annual, leadership annual, major, principal, and planned gifts, and partners with the Foundation's CEO, AVP for Development, and Foundation staff to design and implement strategies for engaging individuals, foundations, and organizations with significant philanthropic potential.
The Boise State University Foundation supports Boise State University by securing philanthropic support and developing relationships with alumni and friends, and stewarding gifts made to support the university.
Responsibilities- Oversee prospect research, management, and data analysis activities to support fundraising strategies.
- Provide research, reports, and detailed analyses to support the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
- Lead the strategy to discover new prospects and assign them to gift officers in collaboration with Foundation leadership.
- Compile and present research briefs to university leadership, ensuring effective movement of prospects through the development pipeline.
- Manage and mentor the Prospect Development team, making hiring recommendations and completing performance evaluations.
- Onboard new database users and coach existing users on complex prospect management module issues.
- Coordinate with external vendors for screening and modeling services, and ensure alignment with foundation guidelines.
- Demonstrate project management and data analysis skills to predict future fundraising progress.
- Maintain best practices, ethical standards, and data integrity throughout the research process.
- Bachelor's degree and five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, including at least one year of managerial experience.
- Preferred experience in higher education and related fields such as development, prospect research, advancement services, library science/information sciences.
- Strong analytical skills and experience with advanced development research tools and public records databases.
- Proficiency with relationship management systems, prospect data resources, and related technologies (CRM, Google Workspace).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare confidential reports and present to senior leaders.
- Knowledge of ethical standards and best practices (e.g., ADRP, CASE) and commitment to industry guidelines.
- Ability to work collaboratively, communicate effectively, and maintain confidentiality in handling donor information.
- Project management capabilities and strategic thinking to navigate dynamic priorities.
- Starting salary range: $80,828.80 to $ annually, commensurate with experience.
