The Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at Boise State University invites applications for a tenure‑track Assistant Professor position, anticipated to start in Fall 2027. Candidates should be able to collaborate with faculty within the department and with other departments and centers campus‑wide (e.g., Idaho National Laboratory) and to leverage our interdisciplinary PhD programs in Engineering, Computing, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, and Materials Science and Engineering.
Preference will be given to candidates with research expertise in the following areas:
- Robotics, Mechatronics, and Control
- Advanced Manufacturing
- Develop and lead an externally funded research program in one or more of the preferred areas.
- Maintain a productive research agenda and pursue grant opportunities.
- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses, fostering an engaging, evidence‑based learning environment.
- Mentor students and contribute to the development of undergraduate and graduate programs.
- Participate in departmental, college, and university committees and events.
- Collaborate with faculty, industry, and community partners on interdisciplinary research initiatives.
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
- Strong publication record and track record of securing external research funding.
- Experience teaching undergraduate and graduate mechanical engineering courses.
- Experience in interdisciplinary research collaborations.
- Competency to instruct courses in System Modeling & Control or Design.
- Track record of research and publications in the preferred areas.

Salary and Benefits- Salary ranges from $90,000 to $95,000 (9‑month contract).
- 9‑month contract with pay and benefits spread over 12 months.
- Standard faculty contract includes benefits such as a 10.76% university contribution to your ORP retirement fund.
