Job Summary
The Senior Coordinator of New Student Programs leads the planning and delivery of orientation, transition, and engagement initiatives that support the successful transition of new students and their families to Boise State University. Through collaboration with campus partners, supervision of professional and student staff, and implementation of high‑quality programs, this position fosters student engagement, belonging, success, and retention while advancing the university’s enrollment and student success goals.

New Student Programs (NSP) facilitates the successful transition of new students and their families to Boise State University through orientation, transition, welcome, and family engagement programs. By connecting students to campus resources and fostering a sense of belonging, NSP advances student success, engagement, and retention.
Essential Functions60% of Time the Senior Coordinator of New Student Programs must:
- Plan, coordinate, and implement comprehensive orientation programs, including New Student Orientation, Family Orientation, International Student Orientation, Bronco Welcome, and other programs, for first-year, transfer, non‑traditional, international, and virtual students.
- Manage orientation logistics, including facilities, conference services, housing, advising, registration, scheduling, and summer program support.
- Coordinate program assessment, reporting, and completion of operational deliverables supporting orientation initiatives.
- Collaborate with campus partners including the Advising and Academic Support Center, Housing and Residence Life, Student Involvement and Leadership Center, Student Connections and Support Center, Educational Access Center, Center for Global Engagement, Financial Aid and Scholarships, and Student Financial Services to ensure successful program delivery.
- Plan and coordinate first‑year transition curriculum and initiatives that support student engagement, persistence, and success.
35% of Time the Senior Coordinator of New Student Programs must:
- Supervise, and evaluate the Coordinator for New Student Programs professional staff position.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate approximately 30 student staff members, including Orientation Coordinators and Orientation Leaders.
- Provide direct supervision, coaching, performance feedback, and leadership development for senior student leaders.
- Develop and implement student employment and professional development opportunities that enhance leadership, communication, and career readiness.
5% of Time the Senior Coordinator of New Student Programs:
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Knowledge of student development theory, student success principles, and transition practices that support engagement, persistence, and retention.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and collaborate effectively with students, families, faculty, staff, and campus partners.
- Ability to represent Boise State University and New Student Programs professionally with internal and external stakeholders.
- Strong oral, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to design and facilitate engaging trainings, workshops, and educational programs for various audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and evaluate professional staff.
- Demonstrated ability to recruit, supervise, and develop a high‑performing student staff team while fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Ability to facilitate small, medium, and large group experiences focused on engagement and community building.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to think critically, analyze information, solve problems, and make sound decisions in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to delegate effectively, provide constructive feedback, and promote accountability for individual and team performance and outcomes.
