Responsibilities
The incumbent is responsible to monitor and guide the behaviors of elementary students toward appropriate social skills and interactions. During non‑playground time, the incumbent may assist in the school office or library. Duties primarily include providing a safe and secure environment; maintaining playground equipment and equipment inventory; documenting student conflicts and applying problem‑solving techniques; working with the principal, teachers, counselors and parents;
and providing back‑up assistance to office, library and other building staff.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required and experience working with school‑age children is preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.
- Ability to maintain and demonstrate a positive attitude toward students and learning.
- Follow written and oral instructions and observe District policies and procedures.
- Interact and work effectively with children; maintain student, school, and parental confidentiality; operate standard office equipment, and a personal computer using programs appropriate to assigned duties.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers and staff members, and other District personnel.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrate integrity, ingenuity and inventiveness in the performance of assigned tasks.

Benefits are provided to classified employees who work at least half‑time (20 hours per week) or more in a regular position and to certified employees with a 0.5 FTE or greater contract.
