About NOLANational Outdoor Learning Alliance (NOLA) is a dynamic, nonprofit organization dedicated to providing immersive and educational outdoor experiences for children. Nestled in the heart of nature, our programs are designed to inspire a lifelong love for the great outdoors while fostering learning, personal growth, and fun.
Position OverviewNOLA is partnering with the Boise School District this summer! We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team as a Summer Outdoor Educator for a four week period, starting June 2026. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with Kindergarten through 6th graders in a nature-based learning environment, fostering curiosity, creativity, and a deep connection to the natural world.

Mondays
- Thursdays, 8:50 - 11:30am
Must commit for all four weeks
Optional additional hours as a substitute, with the possibility of continuing employment through seasonal camps (Summer Camps)
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervision and Engagement:
Provide a safe and supportive environment for students participating in the summer school program. Foster positive relationships and encourage active participation in nature-based activities.
Activity Planning:
Develop and implement engaging and age-appropriate outdoor activities, games, and projects that align with NOLA’s educational philosophy. Foster a love for nature through hands‑on experiences.
Safety and Well‑Being:
Prioritize the safety and well‑being of all participants. Adhere to established safety protocols and emergency procedures. Ensure a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.
Communication:
Maintain open and effective communication with parents, guardians, Boise School District staff and NOLA staff. Provide regular updates on student progress and share highlights of daily activities.
A passion for outdoor education and nature‑based learning.
Alignment with our pedagogy and philosophy, which prioritizes child‑led play and exploration while fostering warmth and connection.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Flexibility and adaptability to outdoor environments and changing weather conditions.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Educational and Experience RequirementsPrevious experience working with children.
Knowledge of the developmental needs of school‑age children.
Physical RequirementsAbility to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
Capability to hike on uneven terrain.
