Position: Boise State University – – Lecturer – Construction Management

Job Overview

Join the Boise State University Department of Construction Management as a full‑time, 9‑month Lecturer or Clinical Assistant Professor starting Fall 2026 or January 2027. These teaching‑focused positions offer the chance to inspire undergraduate students through engaging, face‑to‑face courses within a growing, industry‑partnered program.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses in areas such as Introduction to Construction Management, Construction Materials & Methods, Drawings, Specifications & Codes, Construction Estimating, Scheduling, MEP Systems, Construction Surveying, Construction Safety, Soils & Construction Equipment, Project Management, Jobsite Management, Advanced Concrete Methods and Materials, and Project Cost Controls.
  • Carry a normal teaching load of 9‑12 credit hours per semester (typically 3‑4 courses).
  • Maintain proficiency in the U.S. construction industry and bring that experience into the classroom.
  • Engage in continuing education to remain up to date in the profession.
  • Explore and integrate construction technologies and AI applications into course content.
  • Participate in departmental discussions, decision‑making regarding course learning outcomes and program pedagogy.
  • Serve in service activities such as mentoring students, advising student organizations, coaching competition teams, and acting as a liaison to construction industry representatives.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative and team‑oriented mindset.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, architecture, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of seven years of U.S. construction industry experience with progressive responsibility.
Clinical Assistant Professor
  • Master’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, civil engineering, MBA, J.D., or a closely related discipline.
  • At least five years of U.S. construction industry experience.
  • Teaching experience in U.S. higher education in a related discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Undergraduate teaching experience in higher education.
  • Professional licensure, certifications, or industry credentials related to the construction field.
  • Experience with current construction management technologies and industry software applications.
  • Experience incorporating emerging technologies, including AI‑related tools, into professional practice or instruction.
  • Active participation in construction‑related professional associations or organizations.

Salary and Benefits
  • Salary ranges from $80,000 to $90,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Position funded for an initial three‑year period; continuation or renewal depends on funding availability, enrollment, performance, and programmatic needs.
  • Standard faculty contract: 9‑month contract with pay and benefits spread over 12 months, renewable annually.
  • Benefits package includes excellent medical, dental, and other coverages.
  • Employment visa sponsorship is unavailable.
  • Position is based on the Boise State University campus in Boise, Idaho, with an anticipated start date of August 2026.
