Position: Solar Field Service Technician (Boise, ID)

Job Summary

SOLV Energy is a leading provider of infrastructure services to the power industry, designing, building and maintaining utility scale solar, battery storage and high voltage substation projects nationwide. The Solar Field Service Technician (Level
1) will perform field maintenance and learn to follow safe work practices in the solar industry. This role is located full‑time on a jobsite in Boise, Idaho.

Position Responsibilities and Duties
  • Stresses the importance that safety is the most critical function and ensures all employees follow safe practices while working.
  • Works safely under all circumstances, seeking guidance regarding unfamiliar work to ensure safety and understanding of tasks to be performed.
  • Operates and cares for company property, equipment, and tooling.
  • Services solar equipment in multiple solar plants under supervision.
  • Performs basic solar equipment testing, troubleshooting and maintenance tasks under supervision and utilizing monitoring programs.
  • Replaces or repairs solar parts and/or equipment under supervision.
  • Responds on‑call as directed by supervisor to assist in emergency equipment repairs.
  • Prepares accurate documentation and required reports of work performed.
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Assesses and suggests improved processes, collaborates on new technologies, and coordinates with EPC management regarding implementation of these improvements.

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent; vocational/technical school training a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a mechanical or electrical environment achieved through formal training or previous work experience.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to identify and perform effective lock out/tag out of energized parts or systems.
  • Basic understanding of a solar installation or plant.
  • Basic knowledge of testing equipment.
  • Basic computer operation skills.
  • Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions.
  • Obtains NFPA 70e safety training certification and remains current in all safety and technical trainings.
  • Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Effective organizational skills.
  • Ability to work at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather).
  • Ability to work on an on‑call basis (may include weekends or after‑hours situations).
  • Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record and ability to operate company vehicle.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for training, certifications, and site coverage.
Physical Demands and Environmental Conditions

Occasional exposure to weather and harsh outdoor environment, vibration, dust and fumes, electric shock, radiation, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Requires frequent stooping, bending, crouching, reaching, handling, and finger dexterity; involves sitting, standing, walking, and lifting 50 pounds or more. Constant finger dexterity and ability to see details at close range and at a distance, hear, and talk, and possess depth perception.

Occasional climbing and carrying, proximity to moving mechanical parts, and working in high, exposed, or difficult to access places. Noise intensity level may be high.
