Senior Engineering Advisor
At QISG, our Transmission Line teams play a vital role in the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of power across communities and regions. We design, build, maintain, and upgrade high-voltage transmission infrastructure that supports the backbone of the electric grid. Whether working on new construction, line upgrades, or critical maintenance, our teams ensure projects are executed with the highest standards of safety, quality, and performance.

The Senior Engineering Advisor is a strategic technical leader within QISG, responsible for guiding engineering excellence across high voltage transmission and substation projects. This role provides high-level technical oversight, establishes engineering standards, and partners with operational leadership to drive quality, innovation, and consistency throughout the project lifecycle. Serving as a senior subject matter expert, this position supports conceptual through detailed design phases, strengthens workforce development, and advances QISG’s technical reputation within the industry.
WhatYou'll Do
- Strategically collaborate with engineering and operational leadership to define technical goals, priorities, and long-term engineering initiatives.
- Provide senior-level oversight of engineering work to ensure technical quality, consistency, and compliance with company and customer standards.
- Act as technical lead during conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design phases of transmission and substation projects, including customer and jobsite visits as required.
- Provide subject matter expertise in high voltage transmission and substation engineering, including electrical studies, insulation coordination, grounding and lightning performance, switching surge performance, reactive compensation, protection coordination, and related analyses.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve engineering controls, technical governance processes, and quality assurance standards.
- Establish and oversee technical training strategies, mentoring programs, and professional development pathways for engineering staff.
- Support business development efforts through participation in client meetings, technical proposal development, scope definition, and strategic project planning.
- Collaborate with Quanta Engineering and Construction OpU’s to drive integrated project execution and expand service offerings.
- Drive innovation and efficiency in engineering methodologies, tools, and technologies to enhance project delivery and performance.
- Represent QISG in industry forums, conferences, and professional associations to enhance the company’s technical reputation and thought leadership.
- Foster a culture of safety, quality, integrity, and technical excellence consistent with QISG’s core values.
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and advancements in engineering practices, incorporating relevant innovations into company standards and project execution.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in the electric utility industry performing engineering and/or management of high voltage transmission and substation projects.
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) or Graduate degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
- P.E. license required.
