WSP is currently initiating a search for a Mechanical Engineer (Generation) to join our Power & Energy team in Houston, TX
. The following locations will also be considered: New York, NY, Seattle, WA, Boise, , Overland Park, KS, Atlanta, GA, Oradell, NJ and Mt. Laurel, NJ. Your Impact
  • Design mechanical piping and equipment for renewable and fossil power generation facilities
  • Evaluate, select, and apply engineering techniques, procedures, industry codes and standards to projects
  • Perform high-complexity engineering designs including analysis, calculations, research, and equipment selection
  • Develop P&IDs for power plant systems including steam cycles, boiler feed, condensate, water treatment, fuel gas, hydrogen, and utilities
  • Prepare sizing calculations and specifications for major equipment including heat recovery steam generators, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, and pumps
  • Prepare construction/installation scopes of work for mechanical systems
  • Check design deliverables by industry codes and standards, contract requirements, and company standards
  • Coordinate with other drafters, designers, and engineers and review work progress and results
  • Provide technical mentoring and/or oversight
  • Perform professional mechanical engineering work and conduct complex investigations and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions to determine conformance with applicable rules, standards, and permits
  • Develop construction and installation plans, specifications, and cost estimates; preparing construction safety and phasing plans, and updating infrastructure layout plans requiring coordination with owners, other disciplines, sub-consultants, and clients
  • Involved from project inception to completion in the management of mechanical design and construction of building and infrastructure projects, including rehabilitation and reconstruction, new builds, operating specifications, materials, phasing, and safety plans
  • Oversees the development and implementation of advanced technologies and design standards to account for proper installation and functioning of equipment and systems
  • Lead larger-scale mechanical engineering projects, prepare and oversee budgets, monitor hours and expenses, supervise subcontractors and employees
  • Meet with public or private entities to discuss engineering/construction challenges and programs
  • Ensure technical reports and presentations explain research, findings, and recommendations to address engineering, design, or construction issues
  • Develop a client base for high-level mechanical engineering services and identify business development opportunities
  • Mentor staff to support growth and professional development
  • Collaborate with professionals from diverse disciplines on federal, state, regional, and locally funded projects
  • Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
  • 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in mechanical design for industrial facilities
  • Engineer license required (multi-state preferred)
  • Working knowledge of Micro Station or AutoCAD
