S&L Industrial is seeking a Traffic Control Estimator to join our growing team. As a Traffic Control Estimator you'll be responsible for preparing bid proposals for traffic control work, analyzing the market, and developing customer relationships.
This is an in-person position that will regularly partner with our corporate office in Omaha, NE.
What You'll Do- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents
- Perform quantity take-offs and develop detailed cost estimates
- Prepare and submit quotes and bids within deadlines
- Coordinate pricing with vendors and subcontractors
- Ensure compliance with DOT standards and project requirements
- Attend pre-bid meetings and communicate project scope internally
- Track bid results and analyze outcomes to improve future estimates
- Collaborate with operations on scheduling, logistics, staffing, and execution across multiple locations
- Maintain accurate and organized project documentation
- Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, and partners
- 2+ years of traffic control estimating experience
- Experience with traffic control, striping, or roadway projects preferred
- Familiarity with bid software (e.g., Bid2
Win) is a plus - Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage priorities across multi‑state operations
- Self‑motivated with the ability to meet tight deadlines
- Valid driver's license with a strong driving record
- Willingness to travel approximately 20%
- In‑person, office‑based role with extended computer use
- Travel required for pre‑bid meetings and project coordination
- Occasional work outside standard business hours to meet bid deadlines
