Position Overview
Micron Technology seeks a Materials Scientist to perform process development for CVD and ALD films, ion implantation, and CMOS device optimization. Responsibilities include leading experimental execution of high‑current and plasma doping systems, applying materials characterization techniques (XPS, XRD, electron microscopy, SIMS, resistance measurements, ellipsometry), statistical process control, and electrical characterization of sense‑amplifiers. The role may be performed partially via telecommuting and requires domestic and international travel.
Responsibilities- Develop and refine CVD and ALD processes for metals and dielectrics.
- Operate high‑current, high‑energy, and medium‑current implanters and plasma doping systems.
- Apply X‑ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) to characterize surface composition.
- Perform X‑ray diffraction (XRD) and electron diffraction for crystal structure analysis.
- Conduct resistance measurements and other electrical characterizations on films and devices.
- Implement and maintain statistical process control (SPC) procedures.
- Perform electrical characterization of CMOS devices, especially sense‑amplifiers.
- Design experiments using Design of Experiments (DoE) methodology.
- Integrate multiple fabrication processes to form a complete device.
- Fabricate capacitor devices including Metak‑Insulator‑Metal and Metal‑Oxide‑Semiconductor structures with high‑K dielectrics.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance material performance toward program goals.
- Ph.D. in Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with CVD and ALD film deposition of metals and dielectrics.
- Proficiency with XPS, XRD, electron diffraction, resistance measurements, and ellipsometry.
- Strong background in statistical process control and design of experiments.
- Hands‑on experience in CMOS device electrical characterization.
- Ability to operate high‑current, high‑energy, and medium‑current implanter systems and plasma doping equipment.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to make data‑driven recommendations.
Micron offers a range of medical, dental, and vision plans, income‑protection programs, paid family leave, robust paid time‑off, and paid holidays. Benefit details are available on the Micron careers website.
