Position: Senior Mechanical Designer - US

Stantec’s Energy and Resources team is hiring a Senior Mechanical Designer for our growing team in the Arizona office (open to all U.S. locations). The role reports to the Energy and Resources Piping and Mechanical Design Team Lead and involves developing and coordinating mechanical models and electronic documents on projects within the global Mining Sector.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and document complete mechanical deliverables under moderate supervision.
  • Produce deliverables as an individual contributor or as part of a mechanical engineering team, depending on project size.
  • Generate general arrangements and bulk material handling equipment designs for aggregates, piping and mining equipment.
  • Utilize engineering, math, and materials knowledge to complete drawings based on schematics, sketches, and verbal instructions.
  • Assist other designers with project deliverables.
  • Report project progress and issues to Lead Designers or Project Managers.
  • Lead model and drawing review meetings with Stantec’s team and clients.
  • Design and draft in 3D and 2D environments.
  • Provide material estimates to support Procurement and Estimating efforts.
  • Lead and mentor Junior and Intermediate Mechanical Designers.
Capabilities and Credentials
  • Experience in an industrial or mining environment is required.
  • Experience designing mining facilities and infrastructure is a plus.
  • Experience with BIM
    360/Autodesk Forma.
  • Proficient or advanced knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Plant 3D, Inventor and Navisworks (2021 or higher).
  • Experience in AVEVA is a plus.
  • Ability to work with point clouds as part of the design process.
  • Understand and adhere to applicable drafting standards and verify completeness of design drawings.
  • Understand and follow revision progression and quality processes.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings of all disciplines (preferred).
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to perform field walks, including climbing ladders and standing for extended periods.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Strong math skills relevant to design work.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum eight (8) years of experience in industrial engineering design packages.
  • Associate’s degree or certificate from an accredited drafting program preferred (experience may be considered in lieu of education).
  • REVIT education or experience required; certifications are a plus.
Pay Transparency Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Part‑time compensation is pro‑rated. Benefits Summary Benefits

Summary:
