Design, develop, and integrate cellular modem modules into Open Wrt-based platforms. Own the end-to-end modem stack development, including kernel drivers, user-space daemons, and network configuration, ensuring reliable connectivity, seamless failover, and optimal throughput across 5G cellular.

What you will do Integrate 5G modem modules into Open Wrt-based router and gateway platforms

Develop and maintain kernel drivers for modem communication interfaces (USB, PCIe)
Implement and optimize QMI/RMNET/AT command interfaces for modem control

Configure network interfaces, routing policies, and failover mechanisms

Implement connection management daemons for automatic reconnection and band selection

Integrate SMS, GPS/GNSS, and voice functionality where applicable

Optimize data throughput and reduce latency across modem interfaces

Perform modem firmware updates (FOTA) and version management

Debug connectivity issues across the full stack (RF, baseband, driver, user-space)
Collaborate with hardware team on antenna design validation and RF performance

Create integration documentation and developer guides

The skills you bring

Minimum

Required Skills:

5+ years experience in modem integration across multiple chipset vendors, embedded Linux development

Linux kernel development (driver development, device tree, kernel modules)
Open Wrt/LEDE build system and package development

Cellular modem integration (QMI, RMNET, AT commands)
USB/PCIe modem interface drivers

C/C++ programming for embedded Linux systems

Cross-compilation tool chains and embedded build systems

Education Requirements

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field

Preferred:
Master’s degree in Embedded Systems, Networking, or related field

Experience with Qualcomm SDX
55/SDX
62/SDX
65/SDX
72 based modules

Experience with Quectel or Telit Wireless modules

OpenWrt procd/ubus/UCI framework expertise

Modem

Manager or custom connection manager development

Multi-WAN and WAN failover implementation (mwan3)
IPv4/IPv6 dual-stack configuration over cellular

VPN integration over cellular links (Wire Guard, OpenVPN, IPsec) eSIM/eUICC provisioning and profile management

WWAN power management and thermal throttling

Carrier aggregation and band locking configuration

GobiNet//mhi driver development

Device tree overlay creation for modem hardware
