Field Service Engineer
Schedule: Mon-Fri 7:30am-4:30pm
Pay Rate: $30-$42 DOE
Location: Boise,

- Perform installation, upgrade, testing, warranty, and repair activities for semiconductor manufacturing equipment in compliance with Veeco and customer safety and security protocols.
- Diagnose, isolate, and resolve equipment and system malfunctions; implement corrective actions to restore tool performance.
- Support the introduction and implementation of new processes, methods, and equipment designs.
- Drive on‑site field activities and technical communications, serving as the primary support resource for assigned customer sites.
- Build and maintain strong customer relationships to ensure high satisfaction and long‑term retention.
- Maintain regular communication with teammates and Field Service Management using Microsoft tools.
- Adhere to all safety, confidentiality, travel, and expense policies.
- Participate in technical training and accept mentorship from senior Field Service Engineers and management.
- Travel is required; typically ~50% and rarely exceeding 75%, with increased travel (including possible international travel) during the first 6 months for hands‑on training.
- Experience with semiconductor process equipment and subsystems, including vacuum, gas delivery, chemistry, electronics, robotics, and mechanical assemblies.
- Hands‑on experience supporting OEM semiconductor equipment platforms is required.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and installation drawings.
- Working knowledge of electrical fundamentals and component identification.
- Understanding of process fundamentals involving gas flow, pressure, temperature, pneumatics, robotics, and PLC‑controlled systems.
- Experience with system integration, testing, troubleshooting, and debugging.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and collaboration tools.
- Strong communication skills and professional customer interaction.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Personal Protective Equipment.
- Semiconductor industry is preferred.
- Associate’s degree in a science or technology‑related field preferred; military technical training will be considered.
- A minimum of 5 years of overall experience supporting semiconductor manufacturing equipment.
May be required to walk up to 5+miles per day, be on feet for 8-10 hrs at a time, ability to bend, twist, push/pull, crouch, kneel in confined spaces, work at heights, on a ladder, and lift up to 50 pounds. The physical demands described above are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
