The Water/Wastewater Practice is seeking a Project Manager in Spokane, WA;
Boise, ;
Coeur d’Alene, ;
Pocatello, ; or Salt Lake City, UT. The ideal candidate will lead complex municipal water and wastewater projects, independently manage major projects and/or design tasks, mentor staff, and focus on delivering high-quality projects while managing client relationships, financial performance, and team coordination.
- Lead planning and design for municipal water and wastewater systems, including conveyance and pumping systems; storage and distribution systems; and collection systems and treatment facilities
- Manage scope, schedule, budget, and quality
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subconsultants
- Oversee project financials including forecasting, invoicing, and profitability
- Ensure successful project closeout and client satisfaction
- Prepare and oversee engineering deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and cost estimates
- Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements and design standards
- Serve as Engineer of Record or technical lead on projects
- Serve as primary point of contact for key municipal water/wastewater clients
- Build and maintain strong client relationships
- Identify new opportunities, support proposal development, and collaborate on market growth strategies
- Support or lead proposal development and project pursuits
- Represent the firm at industry events, professional organizations, and community initiatives to strengthen relationships and market presence
- Lead and mentor project teams; provide direction to task leaders and technical staff; mentor and develop junior staff
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field); PE license required or ability to obtain
- 8+ years of progressive civil engineering experience, with a focus on water and wastewater systems
- Strong experience in municipal water/wastewater system design
- Experience managing municipal water/wastewater projects through multiple phases of delivery
- Proven ability to lead design tasks and coordinate project teams
- Familiarity with public agency processes, permitting requirements, and regulatory coordination
- Experience supporting full project lifecycle, from planning and design through construction
- Proficiency with standard engineering tools (e.g., hydraulic modeling, drafting/design software, Bluebeam, spreadsheets)
- Strong communication and technical writing skills
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior staff
